MATTHIAS BADER

Matthias Bader has been working with Ingo Krapf under a common label in the field of furniture and lighting design since the beginning of 2005. Their customers are companies at both the national and international level. The present partnership is born of a long-standing friendship and working cooperation that began when they were both studying interior architecture at the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences. Each graduated with a diploma in Engineering in 1997 and 1998, respectively. Then, at least to begin with, they went their separate ways. They both gained valuable experience working at various architectural firms, and eventually their paths led them into self-employment. The joint “fusion” exhibition at Stylepark during the 2005 Cologne Furniture Fair was a turning point. Here they decided on a business fusion of their own and have been working together under a single name ever since, each, as before, with his own office location in Germany. Both believe that it is important to build a close working relationship with companies and a thorough understanding of their customers’ ideas and needs. In doing so, they are far better equipped to develop innovative designs to meet the most demanding requirements.

&'Costa focuses on combining light and design to provide all new lighting products that offer luminous solutions for interiors. By applying the knowledge it has gained through extensive research, light is expressed through transparency, visibility and brightness. Materials employed to achieve these effects include wood, steel, glass, ceramic as well as metal mesh, thin wooden veneers, fluted blown glass and polycarbonate sheets, giving these objects of art fundamental and functional design.

Carlo Zerbaro founded &'Costa in 2000 with the aim of introducing advanced design in lighting. With the help of young artists, designers, and skilled technicians, Zerbaro established a factory where experience and creativity melt together to produce and distribute his own idea of “lighting expression.”
